Home, sweet home
I’ve been back for almost a week now – how time flies! I landed on Carnival Thursday: The contrast could not have been greater.
I got whisked away to a romantic weekend in Antwerp by the Best Husband in the World to make up for the many weeks we were separated, and now I am back to the office and catching up on all the things I didn’t get round to while working on board.
I am still deeply impressed by the magnificence and surreal beauty of Antarctica. I am overjoyed to be back with everyone I missed sorely while on board, yet miss the people I met and got to work with on the ship. I am settling back into my daily routines and appreciating the little luxuries you don’t have on ships, such as wearing your own clothes, preparing your own food and cuddling with your dogs.
But the last few days haven’t only been about coming home. Yesterday, I saw my Favourite Son off to his next big adventure: He has decided to explore Asia for a few months. There are no words for how proud I am and how excited I am for him. Seems that a certain degree of wanderlust runs in the family!
And I’ve also noticed that plans for my next travels are already forming in my mind. So I have just sent off my application for another trip, hoping to be part of the ship family again later this summer. I will keep you posted.
